On March 13, the Ethereum blockchain completed the  Dencun Upgrade.

The upgrade is the largest change to the network's code in more than a year. The Dencun upgrade creates additional data storage capacity on the Ethereum network. It introduces a new type of transaction capable of carrying large data packets which are referred to as blobs or proto-danksharding.

Blobs are temporarily stored on the consensus layer instead of the execution layer, leading to decreased fee costs.

While Dencun is still in its infancy, the early feedback is encouraging. Transaction costs have decreased significantly after the upgrade. This has a direct positive impact for Cryptorefills users. As displayed in the graph below, transaction costs on Optimism and Arbitrum are now below $0.01.

One of the primary objectives of the Dencun upgrade was to improve affordability enhancing user experience and it has delivered on this objective, with users now paying 10 times less for micro-payments.
