Amsterdam, March 18th, 2026 - Cryptorefills, the platform that lets people spend digital assets on everyday products and services worldwide, has added support for USDT transferred over Plasma, a new Layer 1 blockchain built for stablecoin payments. Users holding USDT on Plasma can now spend it on Cryptorefills for gift cards, mobile top-ups, travel eSIMs, flights, and hotel bookings.
Plasma launched in September 2025 with a single focused purpose: making USDT transfers fast, free, and practical at scale. The network runs a dedicated zero-fee transaction lane for USDT, with sub-second block finality powered by its PlasmaBFT consensus mechanism. It is fully EVM-compatible, meaning existing Ethereum wallets and smart contracts work without modification, and uses Bitcoin checkpointing for settlement security. The network launched with over $2 billion in stablecoin liquidity and integrations with more than 100 DeFi protocols, including Aave, Ethena, and Euler. It was developed with backing from Bitfinex and Founders Fund, with direct involvement from Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino.
"Stablecoins are beginning to function as a practical payment rail for everyday transactions. But consumer payments only work when transaction costs are negligible, particularly in emerging markets where small-value transactions dominate," said Massimiliano Silenzi, CEO of Cryptorefills. "Infrastructure such as Plasma addresses the cost side, while platforms like Cryptorefills provide the spending layer."
