How to install and activate your eSIM

Install the eSIM at home on WiFi or mobile data, before you travel, and on the phone you'll travel with. Some airport, hotel and public WiFi networks block eSIM installation, and installing it on another phone later may not work.

iPhone

On the iPhone itself (iOS 17.4 or later)

  1. In your delivery email, under Click to install, tap Apple. Or on your order page, under Tap to install, tap iOS.
  2. Tap Allow, then Continue.

Scanning from another screen

  1. Open the QR code from your delivery email or order page on a computer or second screen.
  2. Scan it with your iPhone's Camera app and tap the Mobile Plan Detected notification.
  3. Tap Continue, then Add Mobile Plan.

Can't scan or tap? Go to Settings → Mobile Data → Add Mobile Plan → Enter Details Manually and enter the Activation code from your order page.

Android

  1. In your delivery email, under Click to install, tap Android. Or on your order page, under Tap to install, tap Android. Follow the prompts.
  2. Or, on a Google Pixel, go to Settings → Network and Internet → SIMs → Add SIM → Set up an eSIM and follow the on-screen instructions to scan the QR code or enter the Activation code from your order page.

On other Android phones, follow your phone maker's steps for adding an eSIM.

When you arrive

Select the eSIM for mobile data, turn on data roaming for it and leave network selection on Automatic. Your normal SIM won't use roaming data as long as its own data roaming is off.

Your plan starts when the eSIM first connects to a network at your destination. Installing it doesn't start the clock, and you have 365 days from purchase to connect.

Keep the eSIM installed

Leave the eSIM on your phone, even when you're not using it: if you remove it, you may not be able to install it again. When your data runs out, you add more to the same eSIM. See how much data is left on my eSIM.
